Job summary

Marlborough Lines in Blenheim, New Zealand, is seeking a GIS Technician to join the Alfred Street office. You will maintain GIS and asset data accuracy, support ArcGIS Online, and respond to data requests from staff and contractors.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in GIS or related field (desired)
• 2+ years GIS experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level
• Willingness to undertake training in ArcGIS, Milsoft and Hexagon EAM
• Good organisational skills with prompt, accurate task completion
• Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Highly motivated and able to work unsupervised after training
• Experience in a distribution lines business (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Update systems with as-built data from projects, maintenance, and fault responses (GIS, Milsoft, Hexagon EAM)
• Maintain complete, accurate asset records and mapping across GIS and asset management systems
• Respond promptly to data and information requests from staff, contractors and stakeholders
• Provide technical support for Marlborough Lines’ ArcGIS Online organisational account
• Review and validate core asset data records per naming conventions and data quality standards

Marlborough Lines (MLL) owns andoperatesthe electricity distribution network which supplies approximately 27,000 electricity consumers across Marlborough. Our network includes the beautiful Marlborough Sounds and the southern Marlborough coastal communities.

As our GIS team continues to grow, we are seeking a talented GIS Technician to join us at our Alfred Street office. As part of our GIS team, you will playan important roleinmaintainingthe accuracy and integrity of Marlborough Lines’ network data and mapping systems. About the Role

Asa GISTechnician, you willbe responsible for:

• Updating the various systems with as-built data from projects, maintenance, and fault responses, including GIS,Milsoft, and Hexagon EAM.
• Maintaining complete,accurate, and validated asset records and mapping across GIS and associated asset management systems.
• Timely response to data and information requests from MLL staff, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Providing technical support for Marlborough Lines’ ArcGIS Online organisational account.
• Reviewing, verifying, andvalidatingcore asset data recordsin accordance withnaming conventions and data quality standards.

About You

The ideal applicant will have:

• A tertiary level BA/BS degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography or related field (desired)
• The equivalent of a minimum 2 years’ work experience in the GIS industry
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (including Excel) at an intermediate level
• Aptitude and willingness to undertake training in the various software systems such as ArcGIS, Milsoft and Hexagon EAM and to take ownership for system upkeep and the integrity of system data
• Good organisational skills with the ability to focus on completing tasks promptly and accurately
• Good innovation and problem-solving skills
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability and willingness to work in a team
• Highly motivated and able to work unsupervised after suitable training
• Experience working in a distribution lines business
