Job summary

Marlborough District Council is seeking an enthusiastic Engineering Technician to join our collaborative team in Blenheim. You will support engineering projects, undertake site investigations, prepare technical drawings, and help manage critical infrastructure information for water, wastewater and stormwater.

You will ideally have a tertiary Civil Engineering qualification and experience in design/installation of water, wastewater, and stormwater, plus strong draughting and surveying skills.

Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (BE, NZCE, or NZ Diploma in Engineering).
  • Experience in civil engineering, including design and installation of water, wastewater, and stormwater services.
  • Strong draughting and surveying skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and database/data management skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and customer service abilities.
  • Digital literacy and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking site investigations, surveys, and inspections.
  • Maintaining and updating infrastructure asset records and databases.
  • Processing service connection requests and providing technical advice to customers.
  • Assessing subdivision and development applications, ensuring compliance with Marlborough Environment Plan and Council standards.
  • Contributing to contract management, tender evaluation, and project oversight.
  • Delivering excellent customer service and maintaining strong relationships across departments.

We're looking for an enthusiastic Engineering Technician to join our collaborative team! You'll support engineering projects, undertake site investigations, prepare technical drawings, and help manage critical infrastructure information. Your work will help deliver and maintain critical infrastructure, including water, wastewater and stormwater.

You'll assist with:

  • Undertaking site investigations, surveys, and inspections
  • Maintaining and updating infrastructure asset records and databases
  • Processing service connection requests and providing technical advice to customers.
  • Assessing subdivision and development applications, ensuring compliance with Marlborough Environment Plan and Council standards.
  • Contributing to contract management, tender evaluation, and project oversight.

You're a practical, detail-oriented engineering professional who enjoys being out in the field as much as working with plans and data. You can interpret engineering drawings and enjoy solving problems to help projects move forward.

You will ideally have:
