We’re looking for a practical, hands-on General Maintenance Hand to keep things running smoothly across our two Auckland properties: Hotel Grand Chancellor Auckland (Wellesley St.)and The Chancellor on Hobson.
You will report to our Maintenance Manager and take care of a variety of tasks, from fixing minor repairs to supporting essential building systems. This role is varied, encompassing tasks such as painting touch-ups, plastering, inspection of building equipment, checking refrigeration equipment, pumps, AHU's and electronic door locks,general maintenance duties, and responding to guest maintenance requests as required throughout the day.
Performing all tasks within the designated trade safely and responsibly.
Responding to and resolving maintenance requests, including logging and signing off work requests in the computer system.
Assisting with maintenance of mechanical systems and performing scheduled checks to ensure compliance with building warrant of fitness requirements.
Recording meter and plant readings on the daily log sheet at the start of each shift.
Managing the hotel’s Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems during solo shifts, and contacting and liaising with management and contractors where necessary.
You will be someone who enjoys fixing things, solving problems, and getting the job done right. Ideally, you will have:
A strong understanding of maintenance practices.
General skills in plastering, painting, plumbing, and basic carpentry
An understanding of electrical systems, HVAC, and Building Management Systems (BMS)
Good time management and the ability to juggle tasks
A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to contribute where needed
Comfort with manual labour and physically demanding tasks
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team
Flexibility to work weekends on a regular basis and/or shift hours if required
A clean NZ driver's license (preferred, but not essential)
Knowledge of the health and Safety at Work Act 2015
