Job summary

Jora New Zealand in Hastings is seeking 1 full-time Formwork Carpenter to join our team on a permanent basis. The role offers a flexible 30–60 hour work week, Monday through Sunday, with hands-on duties in formwork carpentry.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of relevant experience or a Level 4 qualification (or a Bachelor’s degree). You will read blueprints, plan layouts, select materials, and build framed structures on site.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant work experience in formwork carpentry.
  • NZ residence or valid NZ work visa.
  • Relevant Level 4 qualification or Bachelor degree.
  • Ability to read blueprints and building plans.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans.
  • Prepare project work procedure and determine dimensions and materials required.
  • Plan the order and selection of timbers and other materials, and prepare layouts.
  • Shape and cut materials to specified measurements, using hand or power tools.
  • Assemble and nail prepared parts to form framework or structures or foundation for constructing buildings.
  • Construct building frames and install cladding on the inside and outside of buildings.
  • Remove and repair existing fittings, conduct renovation and maintenance service for the wood structures.
  • Complete concrete formwork when required.
  • To able to work with steel and metal materials when required.
