Job summary

Napier Port is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for a fixed-term role to backfill a vacancy within the Fleet Services Team, focusing on cranes and plant equipment maintenance and reliability. You will report to the Technical Operations Manager and work with Foremen and Level 3s to ensure safe, efficient operation.

The role involves scheduled maintenance, fault finding, breakdown response, and contributing to preventative programmes, with potential continuation if project needs extend beyond March

Qualifications

• Relevant maintenance engineering, mechanical, or electrical trade experience.
• Practical fault-finding, troubleshooting and equipment repair capability.
• Strong commitment to safe work practices and hazard awareness.
• Ability to organise and prioritise work in dynamic environments.
• Clear, professional communication and collaboration.
• Attention to detail and high-quality maintenance work.

Responsibilities

• Complete scheduled and day-to-day maintenance safely and efficiently.
• Fault finding, troubleshooting and repairing cranes and plant equipment.
• Respond to breakdowns to minimise downtime and disruption.
• Contribute to preventative and predictive maintenance programmes.
• Support improvements in equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.
• Participate in after-hours call-out rosters when required.
• Share knowledge and guide teammates on maintenance tasks.
• Collaborate with Fleet Services, internal teams and external contractors.
