Job summary

Napier Port in Hawke’s Bay is seeking a Maintenance Engineer (Fixed Term) to oversee reliable crane and plant upkeep, reporting to Technical Operations and guided by Foreman and Level 3s.

You’ll perform scheduled maintenance, fault-finding and repairs, support preventative programmes, and work with internal teams and external contractors to minimise downtime.

The role emphasises safe practices, teamwork, and ongoing improvements to equipment performance.

Qualifications

• Relevant maintenance engineering, mechanical, or electrical trade experience.
• Practical fault-finding, troubleshooting and equipment repair capability.
• A strong commitment to safe work practices and hazard awareness.

Responsibilities

• Complete scheduled and day-to-day maintenance safely and efficiently.
• Fault find, troubleshoot and repair cranes and other plant and equipment.
• Respond to breakdowns to minimise downtime and disruption.
• Contribute to preventative and predictive maintenance programmes.
• Support improvements in equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.
• Participate in after-hours call-out roster when required.
• Share knowledge and provide guidance to team members.
• Collaborate with Fleet Services, internal teams and external contractors.
