Job summary

Gibbston Valley Winery in Gibbston, Otago, is seeking an experienced Housekeeping Manager to lead our lodge, winery, restaurant and spa housekeeping teams, delivering five-star guest experiences. In this hands-on leadership role you will drive daily operations, train and develop staff, and ensure exceptional cleanliness and safety standards across all guest facilities.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years proven experience in a housekeeping leadership role within a luxury or 5-star environment.
• Strong people management skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team.
• Exceptional attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
• A guest-focused mindset with a passion for delivering outstanding service.
• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required.

Responsibilities

• Managing and overseeing all housekeeping operations across guest villas, restaurant, spa, lodge, and winery facilities.
• Leading, scheduling, and supervising the housekeeping team to ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
• Training, coaching, and supporting team members, including onboarding new staff.
• Ensuring guest amenities, linen, and supplies are stocked and maintained to five-star standards.
• Overseeing linen collection, stock control, and laundering processes.
• Handling guest requests promptly and professionally to enhance the overall guest experience.
• Conducting regular inspections to ensure cleanliness, presentation, and compliance with health and safety standards.
• Coordinating and participating in deep-cleaning programs (e.g. carpet steaming, spring cleaning).
• Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, processes, and cost control.
• Working closely with other departments to ensure seamless guest experiences.
