Job summary

Alexander James is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead the Project Delivery portfolio in a large, fast-paced New Zealand business. You will manage a team of four, drive IFRS 15 revenue recognition, WIP and cost-to-complete analyses, and partner with senior leaders to improve profitability and reporting.

You’ll own end-to-end financial management across major telecommunications and infrastructure projects, influence commercial decisions, and develop the finance team while delivering

Qualifications

• Strong project accounting and contract costing experience within construction, telecommunications, engineering or infrastructure.
• Sound knowledge of IFRS 15, WIP, milestone-based revenue recognition and project profitability.
• Proven end-to-end financial management experience including P&L ownership, reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to partner with senior operational stakeholders.
• Demonstrated people leadership experience with the ability to develop a team while maintaining delivery standards.
• Hands-on approach, capable of switching between financial detail and broader commercial strategy.
• CA/CPA qualification or equivalent; Dynamics 365 or similar project management systems advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end financial management of the Delivery portfolio, including month-end, P&L reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Oversee complex project accounting, WIP, contract costing, milestone-based revenue recognition (IFRS 15) and progress claims.
• Monitor project profitability, cost-to-complete, margins and cost overruns, identifying risks and opportunities to improve performance.
• Partner closely with senior operational leaders and Programme Leads, providing meaningful financial insights to support commercial decisions.
• Improve financial reporting, forecasting accuracy, processes and controls to drive greater visibility and accountability.
• Provide financial oversight of contract pricing, tenders, renewals and commercial opportunities.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of four, maintaining high standards of delivery while building capability and engagement.
