You will report to senior leadership, manage the month-end process, cashflow, budgeting and forecasting, and build strong partnerships across the business to enable sustainable growth and accurate financial insight.
Tait Systems is delivering one of New Zealand's most significant telecommunications infrastructure programmes, the nationwide Public Safety Network (PSN). This programme will provide a modern, resilient communications network for New Zealand's emergency services across the country.
We are a collaborative and agile organisation where every team member plays an important role in delivering successful outcomes. We value initiative, continuous improvement, and practical problem-solving, and we're looking for people who enjoy taking ownership, embracing challenges, and making a meaningful impact.
This is a fixed-term opportunity through to 30 June 2028. Ideally based in Auckland, we're also open to considering exceptional candidates located in Christchurch or Wellington.
As Finance Manager, you will lead the financial management, reporting, compliance, and control activities of Tait Systems NZ, providing the financial insight and governance that supports effective business decision-making and sustainable growth. Reporting to senior leadership, you'll play a key role in ensuring the integrity of financial information, strengthening financial processes and controls, and partnering with stakeholders across the business to drive strong commercial outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the month-end process, preparing accurate and timely financial reporting, management accounts, and insightful analysis for the CEO, Board, and Tait Group.
Managing cashflow, forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning activities to support business performance and informed decision-making.
Ensuring compliance with all statutory, tax, audit, and financial governance requirements, while maintaining a strong internal control environment.
Overseeing day-to-day finance operations, including accounting, accounts payable, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting processes.
Driving continuous improvement across financial systems, processes, and controls, including automation initiatives that improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
Providing technical leadership to the finance team while building strong partnerships with stakeholders across the business to deliver commercial and operational success.
You're an experienced finance professional who combines strong technical accounting expertise with commercial acumen and a continuous improvement mindset. You enjoy working closely with the business, providing clear financial insight, strengthening processes, and influencing decision-making through trusted relationships and sound judgement.
You will bring:
Significant experience in a Finance Manager, Senior Financial Accountant, or similar role.
Proven expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management, and variance analysis.
Strong knowledge of New Zealand financial reporting standards, taxation requirements, and financial governance practices.
Experience improving financial systems, controls, and business processes.
Proven ability to lead, coach, and provide technical guidance to finance team members.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and partner effectively across all levels of an organisation.
A degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline. With CA, CPA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
Experience within a project-based, infrastructure, technology, engineering, or services environment, along with exposure to business growth or systems improvement initiatives, would be highly regarded.
