Job summary

Gea Group in New Zealand is seeking a time-served Field Service Engineer with a strong focus on quality service delivery. You will be self-driven, with a proven mechanical background in maintenance and fitting, and you’ll service a broad range of GEA technologies across dairy facilities, water treatment plants, wineries, and breweries.

The role is based in Christchurch with nationwide travel, potential overtime in winter and after-hours on-call support to meet customer needs, while maintaining

Qualifications

• Trade qualification (Fitter/Turner) preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years’ mechanical discipline experience, preferably in dairy production.
• Strong work ethic with high attention to detail.
• Ability to read service manuals and drawings.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and maintain safety standards.
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
• Proficient in IT and MS Office applications.
• Current driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a range of GEA technologies at customer sites (mainly 25kg Packing Machines, plus atomizers, homogenizers, separators).
• Carry out remedial or rectification works as required.
• Perform on-site troubleshooting with remote support and address customer feedback.
• Engage in preventative maintenance visits and address breakdowns (planned and unplanned).
• Disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, repair and reassemble specialised equipment.
• Produce regular service reports and maintain thorough records.
• Maintain customer relationships to ensure satisfaction and loyalty.
• Demonstrate safety awareness and comply with health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities / Tasks

We are looking for a time served experienced Field Service Engineer with a strong focus on ensuring quality service deliverables are met. The candidate will be a self-driven go getter who needs to have a proven technical background i.e., Maintenance / Fitter, Fitter / Turner and have a high level of technical know-how.

As part of the Service Branch team, our Service Engineers are responsible for servicing a wide range of GEA technologies, primarily mechanical equipment for all major dairy factories, water treatment plants, wineries, and breweries all over NZ.

The successful candidate will be based in Christchurch, servicing a broad range of customers with a focus on ensuring delivery of excellent technical customer service.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a range of GEA technologies at our customer sites (mainly 25kg Packing Machines but not limited to e.g., Atomizers, Homogenizers, and Separators)
• Any necessary remedial or rectification works.
• Performing site trouble shooting with remote support, including actively listening to customers feedback and supporting them to resolve technical issues.
• Actively engaging in preventative maintenance visits and addressing breakdowns (planned and unplanned).
• Performing disassembly, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and reassembly of highly specialised equipment.
• Producing regular and thorough service reports while maintaining meticulous service records.
• Focusing on continuous improvement, providing feedback, solutions, and initiatives to all key stakeholders.
• Maintaining and improving customer relationships to foster collaboration, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
• Demonstrating and appreciating safety for self and others in all actions and activities and maintain a general understanding of the health and safety legislation.

Domestic (nationwide) travel as and when required to meet the tasks required for the role. During the winter months, there will be a requirement for overtime. There will also be the need to be on call from time to time to help with afterhours breakdowns.

Your Profile / Qualifications

• Trade qualification (i.e. fitter / turner or similar) is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in a mechanical discipline preferably with experience in the food and dairy production industry.
• Strong work ethic coupled with a high attention to detail.
• Strong Mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret and follow service and parts manuals and drawings.
• Quality and pride of workmanship and a willingness to travel.
• A commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
• Outstanding customer service and ability to adjust your style based on the needs of the customer.
• Ability to work independently, unsupervised and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficient in IT and Microsoft Office applications
• A current driver’s license
