Job summary

Goodman Fielder is seeking a Shift Engineer for its Meadow Fresh dairy site in Christchurch. You will perform planned maintenance and respond to breakdowns, ensuring equipment operates at peak efficiency while maintaining safety and quality standards.

You will bring a mechanical engineering background, a strong problem-solving mindset, and familiarity with food manufacturing processes. This role offers a rotating shift pattern and opportunities for professional growth within a leading NZ food

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• GMP and food safety understanding.
• Strong root cause analysis for timely breakdown resolutions.
• HS&E knowledge, including machinery guarding.
• Experience in Food and FMCG manufacturing (desirable).
• Experienced fitter (Conveyor belts, motors, sprockets, bearing, gears and pneumatics).

Responsibilities

• Undertake scheduled planned maintenance tasks including planned activities.
• Attend and resolve unplanned maintenance tasks including breakdowns.
• Ensure machinery and plant is maintained to ensure optimum performance.
• Perform general mechanical, motor and conveyor repairs.
• Maintain all site engineering documentation and plant logs, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date information.
• Drive factory quality and SHE standards to ensure safety improvements at the site.
• Assist in preparing site for external and regulatory audits.
