Job summary

Goodman Fielder is seeking a Shift Engineer for the Meadow Fresh dairy site in Christchurch. You will provide high-quality maintenance across the plant, focusing on improving operational effectiveness and reliability.

The role involves a rotating 2 days, 2 nights on / 4 off schedule, with responsibilities spanning planned and unplanned maintenance, equipment repairs, and ensuring GMP and safety standards are upheld.

Qualifications

• Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Machine/Welding.
• GMP and food safety understanding.
• Strong root cause analysis for timely breakdown resolutions.
• HS&E knowledge, including machinery guarding.
• Experience in Food and FMCG manufacturing (desirable).
• Experienced fitter (Conveyor belts, motors, sprockets, bearing, gears and pneumatics).

Responsibilities

• Undertake scheduled planned maintenance tasks including planned activities.
• Attend and resolve unplanned maintenance tasks including breakdowns.
• Ensure machinery and plant is maintained to optimum performance.
• Perform general mechanical, motor and conveyor repairs.
• Maintain site engineering documentation and plant logs with up-to-date information.
• Drive factory quality and SHE standards for safety improvements.
• Assist in preparing site for external and regulatory audits.

Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, you will provide high quality maintenance and repairs to equipment throughout the plant, with a strong emphasis on improving the operational effectiveness of the site. Shift pattern: Rotating 2 Days, 2 Nights on / 4 off.

Key accountabilities of the role include:

• Undertake scheduled planned maintenance tasks including planned activities
• Attend and resolve unplanned maintenance tasks including breakdowns
• Ensure machinery and plant is maintained to ensure optimum performance
• Perform general mechanical, motor and conveyor repairs
• Maintain all site engineering documentation and plant logs, ensuring accuracy and up to date information is available at all times.
• Drive factory quality and SHE standards to ensure and demonstrate continued and sustainable improvement in safety for the site
• Assist in preparing site when required for external and regulatory audits

The successful applicant will have:
