Job summary

Hastings District Council is seeking a practical and organised Compliance Officer to support development across Hastings District by ensuring adherence to resource consents, the District Plan, and relevant legislation. The role involves field inspections, gathering information, and managing records while balancing a helpful, solutions-focused approach with the authority to address non-compliance.

You will monitor consent conditions, investigate complaints, and work with the Compliance Manager

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the district plan, resource consent processes and relevant legislation.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Good analytical and organisational abilities with accurate record-keeping.
• Sound judgement and a practical approach to resolving issues.

Responsibilities

• Monitor resource consent conditions and investigate potential breaches.
• Carry out field site inspections and collect information.
• Follow up on outstanding compliance matters and enforcement actions.
• Maintain accurate records and track progress of issues.
• Collaborate with the Compliance Manager and planning/building teams.
• Balance solutions-focused approaches with the authority to enforce when required.
