Job summary

Clutha District Council is seeking a dedicated Building Control Officer to join the Building Control Team and ensure building work complies with legislative requirements.

You will process consent applications, carry out inspections, and issue Code Compliance Certificates while supporting the public and local community with compliance. You will review non-compliant work and build strong relationships across Council and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a similar role with strong understanding of the building consent process.
• Ability to assess applications and review plans for compliance.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical information clearly to customers and stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and committed to providing professional advice.

Responsibilities

• Process building consent applications, perform inspections and issue Code Compliance Certificates.
• Support the public and local community in their compliance with legislation, Council bylaws and the NZ Building Code.
• Review and assess non-compliant building work.
• Assist and liaise with customer concerns.
• Build great relationships across Council, community stakeholders and building professionals.
