Job summary

KiwiRail Freight is seeking Ferry Terminal Operators in Wellington on fixed-term contracts. The roles cover full-time (80 hours per fortnight) and part-time (60 hours per fortnight), with a rotating 24/7 roster including nights. You will support turning ferries around, secure lines, and assist with luggage and terminal cleanliness.

Ideal applicants have a clean Class 1 licence, a willingness to work weekends, and a health-and-safety mindset. Class 2 licence is a bonus but not required.

Qualifications

• A full, clean Class 1 driving licence is essential.
• A Class 2 driving licence is desirable but not essential.
• High level of physical fitness and health and safety focus.
• Ability to work a rotating 24/7 shift roster (including nights).

Responsibilities

• Support operational and customer service tasks to turn ferries around smoothly.
• Secure ship lines, handle luggage and assist with cleaning.
• Maintain terminal facilities to a high standard for customers.
