Job summary

Lance Ash Interiors in Christchurch, South Island, is seeking an experienced painter to take on a hands-on Quality Control Inspector role. You will inspect plasterboard stopping before handover and collaborate with trades to maintain a high-quality finish.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced painter with a strong eye for finishing quality to join our team in a hands-on Quality Control role.

The role will initially focus on inspecting completed plasterboard stopping before painter handover. You will work closely with our Stopping Contracts Manager, tradespeople, and subcontractors to identify issues early and help maintain a consistently high standard of finish.

The role

• Identify and clearly mark areas requiring rectification.
• Work closely with the Stopping Contracts Manager to resolve quality issues.
• Reinspect rectified work and confirm it is ready for painter handover.
• Carry out small plasterboard stopping and painting repairs when practical.
• When inspections are up to date, assist with smaller plasterboard stopping jobs and other finishing work as required.
• Help tradespeople and subcontractors continually improve quality.

• Strong hands-on painting experience and a genuine eye for detail.
• Good practical understanding of plasterboard stopping and surface preparation.
• Confident completing minor stopping and painting repairs.
• Practical, organised and reliable.
• Good communicator who can work constructively with tradespeople.

We intend to introduce painting as an additional service to our business. As this develops, this position will have the opportunity to work across quality control for both plasterboard stopping and painting, helping us provide greater control over the complete finished product.
