Job summary

New World Pioneer is seeking an experienced Evening Floor Manager to help lead our store through the busiest part of the trading day. This hands-on leadership role supports teams across departments, maintains presentation and stock levels, and ensures efficient store operations in Palmerston North.

You will lead by example in a fast-paced retail environment, coordinating with department managers to deliver outstanding customer service and high standards.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a store floor team in a supermarket or FMCG environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
• Ability to manage multiple departments and shift leadership responsibilities.
• Willingness to obtain a Duty Manager Certificate if not already held.
• Forklift licence preferred and SAP familiarity advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead store through the afternoon and evening trade with a hands-on approach.
• Support and supervise teams across multiple departments to ensure presentation and stock availability.
• Monitor productivity and assist with store procedures and issue resolution as they arise.

Looking for your next leadership opportunity in supermarket retail?

New World Pioneer is seeking an experienced Evening Floor Manager to help lead our store through the busiest part of the trading day.

New World Pioneer is a large, locally owned and operated supermarket in Palmerston North. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards across every area of our store.

Working Tuesday to Saturday evenings, you will play a key role in leading the store through the afternoon and evening trade.

While based within the Grocery team, this position has a strong store-wide focus. You'll work closely with department managers and teams across the store to ensure departments are well presented, adequately stocked, operating efficiently, and delivering excellent customer service.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where no two shifts are the same. You'll support team members across multiple departments, help maintain presentation and merchandising standards, monitor productivity, assist with store procedures, and step in to resolve operational issues as they arise.

The role suits someone who enjoys being out on the shop floor, can confidently make decisions, build strong working relationships, and lead by example in a fast‑paced retail environment.

About You

The successful applicant will have

• Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a supermarket, retail, or FMCG environment
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
• Excellent organisational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities
• The ability to motivate and support a diverse team
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Confidence working in a fast‑paced environment
• A Duty Manager Certificate, or the ability and willingness to obtain one
• A forklift licence (preferred)
• Experience using SAP or similar retail systems (advantageous)

Tuesday 1.30pm to 10.00pm

Wednesday 1.30pm to 10.00pm

Thursday 1.30pm to 10.00pm

Friday 2.00pm to 10.30pm

Saturday 1.00pm to 9.45pm
