Job summary

Te Puia in Rotorua is seeking enthusiastic Te Pō Hosts to deliver our premium evening experience. You will warmly welcome guests and coordinate the visitor journey through the evening, ensuring memorable experiences for locals and visitors alike.

Ideal candidates bring a passion for hospitality, strong communication and presentation skills, and a willingness to engage with a diverse range of people while learning new systems and contributing to a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Confident communication with diverse guests.
  • Strong presentation and group speaking skills.
  • Able to learn new systems and adapt to technology.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
  • Knowledge of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the premium evening experience as a Te Pō Host.
  • Coordinate visitor experience across the evening and ensure guest satisfaction.

Mō te tūnga | About the Role

We're looking for enthusiastic, customer-focused individuals to join our Visitor Experience team as Te Pō Hosts.

As a Te Pō Host, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering our premium evening experience, ensuring every guest receives a warm welcome and enjoys an unforgettable visit. You'll be responsible for coordinating the visitor experience throughout the evening, providing exceptional customer service, and creating positive connections with visitors from New Zealand and around the world.

This position is rostered across seven days, with typical operating hours between 2.00pm and 11.00pm.

This role would suit someone who enjoys engaging with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering exceptional experiences.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What You'll Bring

You will ideally have:

  • A genuine passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences
  • Confidence engaging with a diverse range of people and building meaningful connections
  • Strong presentation skills and confidence speaking to groups
  • Sound computer literacy and the ability to learn new systems
  • Knowledge of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga, or a willingness to continue developing your understanding
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • A positive, proactive attitude aligned with the values of Te Puia
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
  • Previous experience in tourism, hospitality, customer service or visitor attractions (advantageous but not essential)
