Job summary

Te Puia in Rotorua is seeking energetic Retail Assistants to join our busy summer season. You will deliver an outstanding visitor experience, help guests choose quality Māori arts and crafts, and provide guidance on product use and care.

This fixed-term role runs from late August to around April 2027, requiring weekend and public holiday availability. You will work in a welcoming store, manage cash and inventory, keep displays neat, and contribute to Te Puia's cultural hospitality.

Qualifications

  • Experience in delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Cash handling and POS operation experience.
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Full availability across the summer period, including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

Mō te tūnga | About the role:

As we gear up for a busy summer season, we’re on the hunt for energetic, customer-focused superstars to join our Retail team!

As a Retail Assistant at Te Puia, you will deliver an outstanding visitor experience through professional selling techniques and excellent customer service. You’ll assist manuhiri (visitors) in selecting quality merchandise, including traditional Māori arts and crafts, and provide guidance on product use and care.

The role involves maximising sales, maintaining well-presented displays, managing cash and inventory accurately, and ensuring a clean and organised store. By packing purchases neatly and handling payments efficiently, you’ll contribute to a positive shopping experience. Your dedication will uphold Te Puia’s values and enhance our cultural legacy.

These are fixed-term roles supporting our busy summer season, with start dates expected from late August through September and roles likely to finish around April 2027. Applicants will need strong availability across this period, including weekends and public holidays.
