Job summary

Presbyterian Support East Coast is seeking caring Support Workers to join our disability services team. You will support individuals with complex disabilities in Satellite Houses, Cottages and Rowan Apartment, Taradale, ensuring daily activities, personal care and community participation.

We welcome applicants with a passion for disability support and a willingness to progress towards a Level 4 in Health and Wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience in disability support and caring for people with complex needs.
• Willingness to work towards Level 4 in Health and Wellbeing.
• Able to travel for out-of-town activities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver support in line with each person's individualised care plan.
• Be able to use a hoist safely.
• Provide personal care and administer medicines.
• Keep accurate records of the support provided.
• Assist with household tasks including cleaning and cooking.
• Act as liaison between flatters (tenants) and whanau and other groups.

Job description

PSEC is one of the largest providers of social and health services in New Zealand. Our East Coast team is made up of over 200 staff and 100 volunteers across our services, which include Enliven and Family Works and two charity shops.

Enliven Disability Services work alongside young people under 65 living with a disability. We are passionate about supporting disabled people on their journey to imagine, create and live a full life. You will be part of a team working to make a difference in your local community.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Support Workers to join our disability support services team.

You will join a team of dedicated people to support 13 people in our Satellite Houses, our Cottages and our new Rowan Apartment in Taradale, with complex physical disabilities and in their home. You will need to be passionate about Disability Support, behaviour management and preferably have experience in the sector and have a certificate or diploma in Health and Well-being or will be willing to work towards this.

Aside from supporting in their day-to-day needs, you will help providerecreativeand social support to allowour flattersto participate in everyday life in their home and their community.You will also provide personal care and be willing to participate in further training and education sessions to upskill.

• Hours are 6:45am to 3:00pm; 2:45pm to 11:00pm and 11:00pm to 7:00am
• Salary Between $24.60 and $30.00 per hours depending on Qualification
• Part-time and full-time roles available

You will:

• Act as a key liaison between flatters and their whanau and other groups engaged in their life.

• Support to maintain a safe, clean and functional home environment.

Knowledge and experience desirable but not essential, training will be given.

Successful applicants must be patient, have a passion to support people with disabilities, a desire to see people reach their potential and an ability to see each person as an individual, with unique needs and abilities. You will need to be a team player and a willingness to develop further in the role by working towards a Level 4 in Health and Wellbeing.
