Job summary

Presbyterian Support East Coast (PSEC) is seeking enthusiastic Support Workers for its disability support services in Havelock North, Hawke's Bay. The role involves providing personal care, daily living support, and community participation to residents in their homes, with training and career development opportunities.

Experience in disability support is valued; a Health and Wellbeing qualification is preferred or candidates willing to work toward it.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Deliver support in line with each person's individualised care plan.
  • Assist with personal care and administration of medicines.
  • Able to use a hoist safely and assist with mobility needs.
  • Travel for out-of-town meetings or activities as required.
  • Assist with household tasks including cleaning and cooking.
  • Maintain accurate records of the support provided and communicate with the team.

PSEC is one of the largest providers of social and health services in New Zealand. Our East Coast team is made up of over 200 staff and 100 volunteers across our services, which include Enliven and Family Works and two charity shops.

Enliven Disability Services work alongside young people under 65 living with a disability. We are passionate about supporting disabled people on their journey to imagine, create and live a full life. You will be part of a team working to make a difference in your local community.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Support Workers to join our disability support services team.

You will join a team of dedicated people to support people in Middle Road, Havelock North with physical disabilities residing in their homes. You will need to be passionate about Disability Support and preferably have experience in the sector and have a certificate or diploma in Health and Well-being or will be willing to work towards this.

You will providerecreativeand social support to allowour flattersto participate in everyday life in their home and their community.You will also provide personal care and be willing to participate in further training and education sessions to upskill.

  • Hours are 6:45am to 3:00pm; 2:45pm to 11:00pm and 11:00pm to 7:00am.
  • Salary Between $23.85 and $29.10 per hours depending on Qualification
  • Part-time and full-time roles available

You will:

  • Deliver support in line with each person's individualised care plan.
  • Be able to use a hoist safely
  • Support with personal care and administration of medicine.
  • Be able to travel for out-of-town meetings or activities.
  • Complete household tasks including cleaning and cooking.
  • Act as a key liaison between flatters and their whanau and other groups engaged in their life.
  • Keep accurate records of the support provided.
  • Support to maintain a safe, clean and functional home environment.

Knowledge and experience desirable but not essential, training will be given.

Successful applicants must be patient, have a passion to support people with disabilities, a desire to see people reach their potential and an ability to see each person as an individual, with unique needs and abilities. You will need to be a team player and a willingness to develop further in the role by working towards a Level 4 in Health and Wellbeing.
