Job summary

McKay in New Zealand seeks an ambitious Engineering Manager to lead and grow our engineering capability. This role focuses on building trusted client relationships, developing future leaders, and delivering high‑standard projects across infrastructure, industrial, construction, marine and renewable sectors.

You'll mentor engineers, shape the strategy for McKay's Engineering function, win new work, and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree required and professional registration preferred.
• Experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex projects.
• Proven ability to win new work and grow client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Developing and executing strategy for McKay's Engineering function.

McKay is seeking an ambitious, energetic and commercially minded Engineering Manager NZ to lead and grow our engineering business. This is an opportunity to take a highly capable engineering team and help shape what comes next. We're looking for someone with technical credibility, but this isn't a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk reviewing designs.

This role is about leadership. It's about building trusted client relationships, identifying opportunities, growing capability, developing future leaders, and creating an engineering team that people want to be part of.

You'll be the face of our engineering capability with clients, a coach and mentor to our engineers, and a key contributor to McKay's future growth.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

Growing Our Engineering Business

• Developing and executing the strategy for McKay's Engineering function.
• Identifying opportunities to grow existing client relationships and open new markets.

• Representing McKay with clients, partners and industry stakeholders.
