Job summary

Powercore Electrical in Auckland seeks a Project Engineer (Electrical Design & Drafting) to deliver electrical design for commercial and industrial projects. You will prepare drawings with AutoCAD, develop single-line diagrams, and support BMS and controls design.

Collaborate with engineers, project managers, consultants and suppliers; conduct site visits and assist with commissioning. You will uphold design quality, documentation accuracy and revision control while progressing diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Must hold NZCE, BE Electrical, or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and design principles.

Responsibilities

• Electrical design and drafting for commercial and industrial projects.
• Prepare electrical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD and related software.
• Develop single line diagrams, schematics, panel layouts and installation drawings.
• Assist with Building Management System (BMS) and controls design.
• Produce technical submittals, design reports, and engineering calculations.
• Review project specifications and consultant documentation.
• Assist with equipment selection and technical procurement.
• Support project managers with design coordination and project delivery.
• Conduct site visits, inspections, and engineering surveys.
• Assist with commissioning and system troubleshooting where required.
• Maintain project documentation and revision control.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.

Your Role Will Include

• Electrical design and engineering for commercial and industrial projects
• Preparation of electrical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD and related software
• Developing single line diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, riser diagrams, and installation drawings
• Assisting with Building Management System (BMS) and controls design
• Producing technical submittals, design reports, and engineering calculations
• Reviewing project specifications and consultant documentation
• Assisting with equipment selection and technical procurement
• Supporting project managers with design coordination and project delivery
• Conducting site visits, inspections, and engineering surveys
• Assisting with commissioning and system troubleshooting where required
• Maintaining project documentation and revision control
• Collaborating with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers

What We Need From You

• NZCE, BE Electrical, Electrical Engineering Degree, or equivalent qualification
• Experience using AutoCAD or similar drafting software
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and design principles
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem-solving ability and practical engineering mindset
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• A willingness to learn and continuously improve
