Seed and Grain New Zealand (SGNZ) invites applications for a part-time Engagement & Events Coordinator to build relationships, run conferences and deliver communications for NZ's seed and grain sector.

The role focuses on events delivery, member engagement and promotional activities, with flexible hours and opportunity to grow the position, reporting to Midlands Group HR.

Qualifications

Do you love bringing people together, creating engaging content and delivering outstanding events?

The Seed Growers & Trade Association of New Zealand (SGNZ) is looking for a proactive and relationship-focused Engagement & Events Coordinator to help strengthen connections across New Zealand's seed and grain industry.

This in one of two newly established positions. This role is the public-facing engagement role within the organisation and will play a key part in delivering conferences, professional development events, communications and member engagement initiatives.

About Us

SGNZ is a not-for-profit organisation representing New Zealand's seed and grain industry. We work closely alongside members researchers, breeders, growers, and industry partners to support a thriving and innovative sector.

We are looking for someone who can build strong relationships, create engaging communications and help ensure our members remain connected and informed.

The Opportunity

This is a diverse and highly rewarding role combining:

The role is approximately 20 hours per week, with flexibility to increase hours around major events and conference periods.

Key Responsibilities
Events & Conference Delivery
  • Coordinate the annual SGNZ Conference
  • Assist with forums, workshops and training events
  • Manage registrations and attendee communications
  • Liaise with speakers, venues and suppliers
  • Support exhibitors and sponsors
Communications
  • Develop newsletters and member communications
  • Produce industry updates and promotional material
  • Support webinars, podcasts and short-form video content
Member Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with members
  • Gather member feedback
  • Develop activities that encourage participation and connection
Marketing & Promotion
  • Promote events and programmes
  • Support sponsorship activity
  • Strengthen industry visibility
  • Assist with communication campaigns and industry initiatives
About You

You're likely to be someone who naturally enjoys connecting with people, organising activities and bringing ideas to life.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience in events, communications, marketing, membership or stakeholder engagement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational ability and attention to detail
  • Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines
  • A collaborative and positive approach
  • The ability to work independently and show initiative
  • Experience within the primary sector, membership organisations or industry associations would be an advantage but is not essential.
