Job summary

IDEA Services supports adults with intellectual disabilities in their own homes and communities. We are seeking a Part-time Support Worker in Whakatane to help clients achieve goals and enjoy meaningful daily activities.

You will assist with daily living skills, nurture relationships, and help clients engage in community activities and job opportunities, while ensuring safety and well-being.

Qualifications

• Prev relevant experience preferred, but varied life experience is valued.
• Ability to build relationships with supported people and families.
• Strong communication and independent problem-solving abilities.
• Comfortable using technology and navigating community services.

Responsibilities

• Help with daily living skills (cooking, cleaning, budgeting).
• Maintain contact with family and friends and foster new connections.
• Encourage participation in community activities and employment search.
• Support social issues navigation and access to services.
• Promote healthy lifestyle choices and good decision making.
