Job summary

IDEA Services in Waikato is seeking a Support Worker to assist adults with intellectual disabilities living in their own homes. You will help with daily living skills, stay connected with family, and participate in community activities, including supporting employment goals.

The role is casual with rostered shifts between 7am and 7pm and may require every second weekend. Previous experience is preferred, but a flexible, open-minded attitude and strong communication are valued.

Qualifications

• Experience in disability support preferred.
• Open-minded attitude and varied life experience valued.
• Strong relationship-building skills a must.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems.
• Excellent communication skills essential.
• Proficient with technology.
• Physically fit for hands-on support.
• Hold a valid NZ driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Support daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning and budgeting.
• Keep in touch with family and friends and help clients make connections.
• Join community activities and social events.
• Assist clients in job-seeking and navigating employment.
• Help manage social issues and access community services.
