Job summary

IDEA Services supports adults with intellectual disabilities and is part of the IHC New Zealand group. We are hiring two part-time Support Workers for our Community Hub in Northcote. Shifts run Wednesday to Friday 8:30am–4:00pm with a Thursday evening social every second week.

You will help create happy, meaningful days, support community participation, and foster friendships and new skills in a positive team environment.

Qualifications

• A positive can-do attitude and genuine interest in working with people with intellectual disabilities.
• Patience, creativity, self-drive and leadership skills.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal).
• Comfortable using computers and tablets.

Responsibilities

• Help create fun, engaging days for people with intellectual disabilities.
• Support people to build friendships, explore interests and develop new skills.
• Assist with activities like art, music, cooking or fitness.
• Support attendance at community events and outings.
