Job summary

Scottfresh is seeking a forklift operator based in North Canterbury (Claverley Beach and Spotswood) for a full-time, seasonal role with accommodation options. Start date is immediate; hours vary by season (40–60 hours/week), with longer shifts in summer and a day shift Monday–Friday plus every second Saturday.

Role involves coordinating with drivers and logistics teams to ensure timely arrivals, and handling dispatch tasks with accuracy.

Qualifications

• Must be able to operate a forklift and assist with dispatch processes.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong verbal communication with drivers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Dispatch Manager and a small team to prepare orders for dispatch.
• Speak with truck drivers and logistics coordinators to ensure timely deliveries.
• Operate a forklift to load and stage orders for dispatch.
• Monitor quality of produce against internal specs.
• Complete dispatch paperwork and stock sheets.

About the role:

• Based in North Canterbury: Claverley Beach and Spotswood.
• Immediate start available
• Full Time, permanent role. 40-60 hours per week.
• Hours vary by the season. Longer hours are required in summer.
• Day shift. Monday - Friday and every second Saturday.

Accommodation is available with this job. All accommodation is close to the workplace.

Starting rate: 25 - 30 per hour.

About the tasks:

• Work alongside the Dispatch Manager in a team of 2-3 people
• Speak with truck drivers and logistics coordinators to make sure orders arrive in a timely manner.
• Drive a forklift to prepare orders for dispatch.
• Monitor quality of produce according to the internal product specifications.
• Complete relevant paperwork such as dispatch dockets or stock sheets.

About you:

You will be comfortable working independently. The role will require you to work unsupervised.
You will be a confident communicator. You will need to speak to logistics companies and work smoothly with other departments inside Scottfresh.
You will be confident working under pressure. The role can be very busy, with multiple trucks arriving at the same time.
