Job summary

McAlpine Hussmann is seeking a Design / Project Engineer in our Mt Wellington head office to design and detail HVAC systems, prepare tender estimates, and coordinate with clients, staff and subcontractors to meet price and quality targets.

You will apply your experience across mechanical services, BIM tools and construction documentation to deliver projects on schedule. This role offers growth within a global refrigeration and air conditioning business.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years' experience in construction/engineering industry (HVAC/building services).
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering or Building Services.
• Knowledge of HVAC design and estimation.

Responsibilities

• Design and detailed engineering of HVAC systems.
• Prepare tender estimates and cost plans for design & build projects.
• Liaise with clients/design groups and coordinate with staff/subcontractors to meet price/quality targets.

About the role:

We have a vacancy available in our Headoffice, based in Mt Wellington, for a highly motivated and experienced Design / Project Engineer to join our AC Contracts Department. As a Design / Project Engineer you will be responsible for the design and detailed engineering of HVAC systems and the preparation of tender estimates and cost plans for design & build specified projects. This role involves liaising with clients and their design groups, and coordinating with staff and subcontractors to ensure the best possible price and quality outcomes that meet client specifications.

The key skills required for this role include:

• Minimum 4 years' experience in the construction and engineering industry, preferably within Mechanical Services (HVAC), Building Services, or related disciplines.

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Building Services or a related field.

• Knowledge and experience in HVAC design and application engineering, quantity take-off and estimation.

• Working knowledge and experience in Autodesk Revit for mechanical services modelling will be an advantage.

• Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Navisworks Manage, Revisto, StreamBIM or similar including clash detection, clash analysis, and coordination workflows.

• Experience working with consultant and contractor models across architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fire disciplines.

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.

• Experience using Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), BIM 360 or similar Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms will be an advantage.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting project deadlines.
