Job summary

Lumino Ilam Orthodontics in Christchurch is seeking a part-time Sterilisation Assistant / Receptionist for Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8:00am–5:00pm. You will sterilise instruments, prepare rooms, and deliver great customer service while greeting patients and supporting reception duties.

The role combines infection-control duties with front-d desk responsibilities, offering a collaborative team environment within New Zealand's leading dental network.

Qualifications

• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional and friendly approach with patients.
• Confidence using computer systems and learning new software.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to infection control and patient safety.
• Sterilisation experience or certification is advantageous but not essential, as full training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sterilise, and prepare instruments following infection control protocols.
• Prepare treatment rooms and sterilisation trays for procedures.
• Maintain sterilisation records and ensure equipment functions correctly.
• Welcome patients and create a positive first impression.
• Answer phone calls and assist with patient enquiries.
• Schedule and confirm appointments using the practice management system.
• Support patient check-in and check-out processes.
• Maintain a clean, organised reception area.
• Assist with administrative tasks and general practice operations.
• Work closely with the clinical team for smooth daily operations.
