Job summary

Fullers360 in Auckland is seeking a Deckhand to join our public ferry team. You will lead customer experience onboard, deliver bar and café service, deploy gangways, and manage all deck duties with a safety-focused mindset.

The role offers a clear path for career progression from Deckhand to Skipper, supported by Fullers360 as a Maritime NZ-approved training provider, including SRL High Speed endorsement training where applicable.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current New Zealand SRL ticket (Skipper Restricted Limits) with endorsements for vessels up to 24 meters and high passenger numbers.
• Must hold a current seafarer medical.
• Current First Aid Certificate.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
• You pride yourself on providing an outstanding customer experience.

• Complete engine room checks.

About the role

Reporting to the Crew Development Manager, you'll be an integral part of ensuring our crew are trained and operating at a high standard. Responsible for all deck duties on board, you'll also ensure the crew are trained and operating at a high standard. You'll be a real champion of the customer experience and motivate your crew to go above and beyond. This role offers a direct pathway for career progression, with the opportunity to advance from Deckhand to Skipper. As a Maritime New Zealand-approved training provider, Fullers360 can also support you in gaining your SRL High Speed endorsement.

Duties

Skills & Experience

• Youmusthold acurrent New Zealand SRLticket (Skipper Restricted Limits) with endorsementsfor vessels up to 24 meters, and large Passenger numbers (High Speed Endorsement desirable)
• You will hold a current seafarer medical
• Current First Aid Certificate
• You will have a minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• You pride yourself on providing an outstanding customer experience
• You have a proven track record and ability to successfully lead and support your crew
• You will have a high level of maturity, and ability to work under pressure
• You pride yourself on your high standard of personal presentation
