Job summary

Laminex New Zealand, part of Fletcher Building, is seeking a Day Operator for our Taupō finishing line. In this hands-on role you will operate, monitor and maintain equipment to ensure safe, efficient and quality production.

You will perform quality checks, troubleshoot faults, and move finished products with a forklift. A strong focus on health and safety is essential, with minimal supervision and teamwork across shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail with a quality-focused mindset.
• Basic computer skills and experience with data entry.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong commitment to health and safety practices.
• Forklift licence advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate sanding, cutting, strapping, and packing machinery.
• Cut and pack boards to production specifications.
• Conduct quality checks, including visual inspections and measurements.
• Troubleshoot machine faults, line stoppages, and product defects.
• Monitor and operate equipment through HMI systems.
• Replace sanding paper and assist with routine maintenance.
• Move finished products with a forklift to the warehouse.
• Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, and quality.

Laminex New Zealand, part of Fletcher Building, is a leading manufacturer of decorative surfaces and panel products. With ongoing investment in our new Taupō plant, we offer exciting opportunities to join a modern, innovative, and safety-focused manufacturing environment.

About the Role:

Our team in Taupō is looking for a Day Operator to join our Finishing Team at our manufacturing plant. In this hands‑on role, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring the finishing line to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.

Your duties will include:

• Operating sanding, cutting, strapping, and packing machinery.
• Cutting and packing boards to production specifications.
• Conducting quality checks, including visual inspections and measurements.
• Troubleshooting machine faults, line stoppages, and product defects.
• Monitoring and operating equipment through HMI systems.
• Replacing sanding paper and assisting with routine machine maintenance.
• Moving finished products with a forklift to the warehouse.
• Maintaining a strong focus on health, safety, and quality.

Friday, 6:30am - 12:00pm, with paid breaks.
