Job summary

Laminex Taupō, part of Fletcher Building, is seeking a Maintainer Operator to join our manufacturing team. This hands-on role focuses on operating, setting up and maintaining plant equipment to keep production safe and efficient.

You will set machine parameters, monitor performance, make real-time adjustments and assist with quality checks, troubleshooting and forklift operations. The role operates on rotating shifts: 4 days on, 4 days off (2 days, 2 nights), averaging about 42 hours per week,

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ experience as a Maintainer Operator within a manufacturing environment (wood‑based industry preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to operate, set up, and troubleshoot plant machinery
• Strong commitment to health & safety, teamwork, and quality standards
• Basic computer literacy, including Outlook, Word, and plant/system interfaces
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to learning, with the ability to quickly pick up new processes and apply technical knowledge in a hands‑on environment
• Able to work independently while contributing effectively to a team
• Basic computer literacy, with the ability to navigate digital control systems.
• Physically fit, with the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
• Class 1 Full Drivers Licence, and OSH Forklift Licence (advantageous)
• Electrical or mechanical trade qualification (desirable but not essential)

About the Role:

You’ll play a key role in our safety‑focused environment, taking on responsibilities such as setting machine parameters, monitoring performance, making real‑time adjustments, and supporting quality checks, troubleshooting, and forklift operations to keep production running smoothly.

This role has rotating shifts: 4 days on and 4 days off – 2 days, 2 nights (an average of 42‑hour week).
