Job summary

Laminex New Zealand in Taupo is seeking Maintainer Operators for our manufacturing team. This hands-on role involves operating, setting up, and maintaining plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient production in a safety-focused environment.

You will handle parameters, monitor performance, make real-time adjustments, and support quality checks, troubleshooting, and forklift operations. The role features rotating shifts: four on, four off, averaging a 42-hour week.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Maintainer Operator experience in manufacturing.
• Ability to operate, set up and troubleshoot plant machinery.
• Strong focus on health, safety, teamwork and quality standards.
• Basic computer literacy (Outlook, Word and plant interfaces).
• Capable of learning quickly and applying technical knowledge hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Operate, set up and maintain plant equipment for safe, efficient production.
• Set machine parameters, monitor performance and make real-time adjustments.
• Support quality checks, troubleshooting and forklift operations.
• Maintain safety practices and participate in teamwork within a busy line.

About The Role

Laminex Taupó is seeking Maintainer Operators to join our manufacturing team. This hands-on role involves operating, setting up, and maintaining plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient production. You’ll play a key role in our safety-focused environment, taking on responsibilities such as setting machine parameters, monitoring performance, making real-time adjustments, and supporting quality checks, troubleshooting, and forklift operations to keep production running smoothly.

This role has rotating shifts: 4 days on and 4 days off – 2 days, 2 nights (an average of 42-hour week).

To Succeed In This Role

• At least 2 years’ experience as a Maintainer Operator within a manufacturing environment (wood-based industry preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to operate, set up, and troubleshoot plant machinery
• Strong commitment to health & safety, teamwork, and quality standards
• Basic computer literacy, including Outlook, Word, and plant/system interfaces
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to learning, with the ability to quickly pick up new processes and apply technical knowledge in a hands-on environment
• Able to work independently while contributing effectively to a team
• Basic computer literacy, with the ability to navigate digital control systems.
• Physically fit, with the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
• Class 1 Full Drivers Licence, and OSH Forklift Licence (advantageous)
• Electrical or mechanical trade qualification (desirable but not essential)
