Job summary

Laminex New Zealand, part of the Building Products Division of Fletcher Building, is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor for our Taupō plant. This hands-on leadership role ensures daily production targets are achieved while embedding strong safety standards and developing operator capability.

Responsibilities include shift reporting, safety actions, training, prestart/post-production checks, rosters, and data analysis using BPCS, Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience in frontline supervisory role within manufacturing.
• Strong Health & Safety leadership with ability to lead by example.
• Logical, structured problem solving and troubleshooting in an operational setting.
• Solid computer literacy, including Excel and Word, with reporting and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Oversee shift reporting and training for new staff.
• Champion a Zero Harm culture and manage hazards, incidents and safety actions.
• Escalate plant issues, major stoppages and operational disruptions.
• Oversee prestart and post-production equipment checks and liaise with Engineering/Maintenance.
• Lead, coach, and develop shift teams with SOP compliance and training.
• Manage rosters, labour allocation and timesheets accurately.
• Analyse production data using BPCS, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Lead toolbox talks and daily leadership meetings; maintain clear team communication.
• Operate 12‑hour shifts with transition to day/night schedule as capacity grows.

Our new Taupō plant is a modern, high output operation with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to join our new Taupō manufacturing plant. This is a hands-on leadership role in a high output, safety critical environment, responsible for ensuring daily production targets are achieved while embedding strong standards, developing operator capability, and maintaining a disciplined, clean, and safe workplace as the site is established and grows.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee shift reporting, share production insights with the team, and ensure new staff are trained to operate safely and effectively
• Champion a Zero Harm culture, ensuring hazards, incidents, and safety actions are managed promptly
• Act as the escalation point for plant issues, major stoppages, and operational disruptions
• Oversee prestart and post-production equipment checks and liaise with Engineering and Maintenance as required
• Lead, coach, and develop shift teams, ensuring SOP compliance, role rotation, and training completion
• Manage rosters, labour allocation, and timesheets accurately
• Complete end of shift reports and analyse production data using BPCS, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Lead toolbox talks, support daily leadership meetings, and maintain clear communication across the team
• The position is based on 12-hour shifts, transitioning to a rotating day/night schedule as the plant reaches full production capacity.

What We’re Looking For

• 3-5 years’ experience in a frontline supervisory role within a manufacturing environment
• Strong Health & Safety leadership with the ability to set expectations and lead by example
• Logical, structured problem solving and troubleshooting skills in an operational setting
• Solid computer literacy, including Excel and Word, with confidence in reporting and basic data analysis
• High attention to detail and well-developed numerical reasoning
• Proven ability to lead experienced teams through clear direction, coaching, and timely intervention to drive performance and accountability
