Job summary

Auror in Auckland seeks a Data Engineering Lead to scale the data foundations powering our mission to reduce violent retail crime. You’ll lead the data engineering team, shape the data platform, and ensure reliable, governed analytics for product, insights, and AI capabilities.

You’ll coach engineers, drive architectural excellence, and partner across Data & AI, Product, Engineering and Platform to deliver high-impact data solutions that empower retailers, law enforcement, and communities to act

Qualifications

• Significant experience building and operating modern cloud data platforms.
• Deep expertise in data engineering, orchestration, transformation, and warehousing.
• Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, Dagster, DBT, Iceberg, Spanner, BigQuery, and cloud platforms (Azure, GCP).
• Experience designing reliable, observable data pipelines with a focus on data quality and security.
• Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and CI/CD, automation, containerisation, Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of scalable, reliable data platforms, pipelines, and consumption models.
• Partner with software teams to design data models for operational and analytical use cases.
• Own and evolve data infrastructure across Azure, GCP, Snowflake, and Terraform.
• Drive improvements in data quality, reliability, and observability; reduce toil.
• Review high-risk designs and ensure observable, tested, rollback-ready solutions.
