Job summary

NZ Transport Agency | Waka Kotahi is seeking a Platform Lead - Data to direct the strategy, architecture and operations of NZTA's enterprise data and analytics platforms. You will guide investment choices and shape modern data capabilities used across the organisation.

The role requires leading cross-functional squads, delivering scalable, secure, and cost-effective data services, and partnering with Digital and business teams to unlock high-value data products and AI use cases.

Qualifications

Significant experience leading enterprise data platform strategy, architecture, delivery and operations.
Strong technical expertise across modern data platforms with Databricks and Azure services.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver complex tech outcomes with clear direction.
Knowledge of data engineering, governance, security, privacy and operational resilience.
Experience shaping platform roadmaps, investment priorities and vendor relationships.

Responsibilities

Set and deliver the roadmap for NZTA's enterprise data platform.
Lead evolution of data/analytics ecosystem incl. Databricks, Fabric, Power BI and Azure services.
Provide technical leadership across data eng, analytics enablement and platform reliability.
Strengthen governance, security, resilience and cost management for data services.
Lead cross-functional platform squads and promote Agile, DevOps practices.
Partner with Digital, business and delivery teams to unlock data products and AI use cases across NZTA.
