Job summary

New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) seeks a Platform Lead - Data to steer the enterprise data and analytics platforms, shaping strategy, architecture and delivery to enable trusted insights, reporting and AI across NZTA.

You'll lead cross-functional squads, guide cloud technologies (Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure), and partner with Digital and business teams to unlock high-value data products while ensuring governance, security and resilience.

Qualifications

Significant experience leading enterprise data platform strategy and operations.
Strong technical expertise across modern data platforms (Databricks, Fabric, Power BI, Azure).
Proven track record leading cross-functional teams and delivering complex technology outcomes.
Understanding of data engineering, governance, security and resilience.
Experience shaping platform roadmaps, investments and vendor relationships.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and ability to advise senior leaders.

Responsibilities

Set roadmap for enterprise data platform to be scalable, secure and resilient.
Lead evolution of data/analytics ecosystem (Databricks, Power BI, Azure services).
Provide technical leadership across data engineering, self-service reporting and platform reliability.
Strengthen governance, security, resilience and cost management for trusted data services.
Lead cross-functional platform squads; promote Agile, DevOps and automation-first work.
Partner with Digital, business and delivery teams to unlock high-value data products and AI use cases across NZTA.
