Job summary

Datacom operates a 24x7 Data Centre at the Auckland Orbit site, leading a small Operations team during a shift. The role includes coordinating on-site tasks with technicians and following standard operating procedures, with travel to other Auckland sites as required.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a small team.
• Ability to coordinate a team’s workload effectively.
• Calm and effective handling of emergencies and conflicts.
• Comfortable with hands-on tasks (e.g. computer equipment installations).
• Willingness to work a rotating day/night shift.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot customer and facility technical issues.
• Able to work at heights up to 4m.
• Knowledge of data cabling concepts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Undertake maintenance and operational tasks and supervise on-site Data Centre Operations team.
• Participate in operational leadership meetings and training programmes.
• Ensure batch processing deadlines and requirements are met.
• Assist customers with enquiries and troubleshooting.
• Adhere to health and safety requirements.
• Record hardware faults and escalate appropriately.
• Provide escort for customers and engineers in the Data Centre.
• Install/manage Data Centre infrastructure including power, IT, cabling, racks.
• Document and follow standards for customer changes.
• Complete site tasks in a timely manner and report status.
• Manage incidents and escalate as needed.
• Meet Datacom security objectives at all times.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and efficiency gains.
