Job summary

Hynds Group is seeking a customer-service focused driver at the Rotorua branch. The role blends frontline support with occasional on-road deliveries using a HIAB-equipped truck. You will help customers choose the right products, process orders, and ensure on-site safety and timely landings of goods.

Qualifications

• Genuine excellence in customer service and rapport with clients.
• Calm, precise handling of busy periods and detail-oriented work.
• Willingness to obtain NZ Class 4 licence and HIAB/crane endorsements if not already held.
• Physical fitness for loading, unloading and yard tasks.

Responsibilities

• Look after customers with advice, quotes, orders and queries in person or by phone.
• Deliver customer orders safely and on time, process PODs.
• Load and secure vehicle, operate HIAB/crane safely, keep truck clean and road-worthy.
• Keep driver paperwork accurate: cartage logs, NZTA logbook, timesheets.
• Assist with yard work, stock control, forklift and inbound goods when not on road.
• Process invoicing, receipting, credits and filing accurately.
• Lead from the front on health and safety on road and site.

Job description

Are you brilliant with customers and keen to get out on the road too? This is a customer-service role at heart, with truck deliveries built in – and we're far more interested in your people skills than your driving. If you've got the right attitude, we'll back you to learn the rest.

Based at our Rotorua branch and reporting to the Branch Manager, you'll be a key point of contact for customers across the civil, water, wastewater and drainage industries – helping them get the right product, sorting their orders, then making sure it all lands on site safely and on time in our HIAB truck.

It's a role for someone who genuinely enjoys looking after people, takes pride in getting the details right, and doesn't mind swapping the counter for the cab when there's a delivery to run.

What you'll be doing

• Looking after customers – advice, quotes, orders and sorting queries, in person and on the phone
• Delivering customer orders safely, in full and on time, and getting your PODs sorted
• Loading and securing your truck, operating the HIAB/crane safely, and keeping the vehicle clean, checked and road-legal
• Keeping the driver paperwork right – cartage logs, NZTA logbook and timesheets
• Pitching in around the branch – yard work, stock control, forklift and inwards goods when you're not on the road
• Getting the admin right – invoicing, receipting, credits and filing
• Leading from the front on health & safety, on the road and on site

What you'll bring

• Genuinely excellent customer service – this is the part that matters most, and the part we can't train
• Attention to detail and a calm head when things get busy
• A full NZ Class 4 licence and HIAB/crane experience would be ideal – but if you're a strong customer service person keen to get your licence and endorsements, we'll help you get there
• A reasonable level of physical fitness for loading, unloading and yard work
• A reliable, flexible team player who communicates well and takes pride in a job done right
• Product knowledge in our industry is a bonus, but we'll back you to learn
