Job summary

Te Tāhū o te Ture – the Ministry of Justice in Gisborne district invites applications for a Court Registry Support Officer on a fixed-term basis until March 2027. You will assist with daily court operations, handle customer inquiries by phone, in person, or by email, and support court registry staff to manage case files.

You will interact with lawyers, judges, jurors, and the public, providing frontline service while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Proven customer service experience.
• Able to multitask, be flexible and adapt to change.
• Motivated to learn and take on new challenges.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely and efficient customer service.
• Support Judges and Court Registry Officers in and out of the courtroom.
• Introduce Judges/judicial officers into court in English and Te Reo Maori.
• Support the jury service function and jurors in court trials.
• Provide general administrative support (photocopying, scanning, filing).
• Manage incoming/outgoing mail and evidence exhibits.
• Perform data entry and maintain records.
• Provide advice and support to diverse customer base.
