Job summary

Roading and Building Recruitment, based in Oamaru, is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Manager to lead forward planning, programming and site operations across the Waitaki region. You will manage people and plant, and contribute to tenders while upholding a high standard of customer service.

The role requires a civil engineering qualification and proven management experience, with a clean driving licence.

Qualifications

• Trade or tertiary qualification in civil engineering.
• Proven construction management experience.

Roading and Building Recruitment – Oamaru, South Island

THE GIG:

Our client is a specialist civil construction and maintenance company involved in road maintenance and construction, commercial and residential developments, drainage, civil construction of structures including bridges, retaining walls and underpass installation, and many other general contracting activities.

Being based in Oamaru but with work around the greater Waitaki District, they have a full forward workload and offer a great working environment, plus opportunities to upskill and develop your career for the future.

In this key role you'll be responsible for forward planning, programming, and organising your people and plant to ensure projects are completed in an efficient and safe manner. You'll also lead or work on tender submissions and quotations. With a focus on quality, you will also be responsible for delivering the high standard of customer service that our Client is known for. You will be assisting the Divisional Manager in the management and delivery of projects across the region.

You will be confident in carrying out Management of Works and Contracts including:

• Preparing job programmes and instructions
• Setting and communication production targets
• Preparing Contract Quality Plans
• Preparing and administrating subcontract agreements.

YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

• Trade or Tertiary Qualification in Civil Engineering
• Have excellent time management skills
• Have a proven track record, including previous construction management experience
• Have a clean, valid drivers licence
• Ability to relate to shareholders and stakeholders on a variety of levels.
