Job summary

Lyttelton Port Company (LPC) is seeking a Container Handler Equipment Operator to join our CityDepot team at the Woolston Industrial area in Christchurch. This role focuses on safety while operating container handling equipment, including empty container handlers and top loaders, within a busy depot on a 24/5 roster.

You will drive equipment, move containers, and support wash and survey workflows. A clean NZ Class 1 licence is required, with F endorsement advantageous.

Qualifications

• Current, clean NZ Class 1 driver’s licence is required.
• F endorsement and heavy plant experience are advantageous.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our CityDepot team is seeking an enthusiastic Container Handler Equipment Operator to work at our Container Depot based in the Woolston Industrial area, with safety as their primary focus. This facility provides an extensive container repair, wash and storage operation working on a 24/5 shift roster.

As a Container Handler Equipment Operator your responsibilities will include the following:

• Driving our empty container handlers, and Top Loaders
• Moving containers to designated locations.
• Safely and efficiently moving containers within the yard, off and on trucks and rail.
• Delivering containers to the wash workshop pre-trip and survey areas in the depot.

What sets you apart

You will be a team player who is committed to working hard to ensure our customer requirements are met. You will have a genuine commitment to Health and Safety and take a personal commitment to looking after yourself and your teammates. Ideally you will have experience operating heavy plant machinery and or varying sizes of fork hoist.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

• To be available and open to work a shift roster. You will work 5 x 8-hour shifts per week, across three different shift patterns. Our roster starts at 2200 on Sunday and finishes at 2230 on Friday.
• A current, clean, full NZ Class 1 driver's licence is required.
• Having an F endorsement and experience driving machinery such as Forklifts and other heavy plant would be an advantage.
• To enjoy working in a fast paced and busy environment.
