Job summary

Fire Security Services is seeking a Compliance Technician to travel across Northland, testing fire alarm, sprinkler, emergency lighting and related systems. You will record results on a mobile device and ensure compliance with NZ Standards and the Building Act, delivering accurate, professional services on every site.

The role is full-time, working Mon–Fri, with training provided and opportunities for career progression within a privately-owned firm serving New Zealand nationwide.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in Fire & Building Compliance in NZ (preferred).
• Working knowledge of NZ Standards and the Building Act.
• NZQA Systems Technology Level 3 is preferred; completion if not held.

Responsibilities

• Test and survey fire alarms, sprinkler systems, emergency lighting and related systems on site across the region.
• Enter all test results and timesheets on a mobile device and sync with head office.
• Ensure all systems meet NZ Standards and the Building Act requirements.
• Deliver accurate and professional compliance services to clients.

Fire Security Services – Whangarei, North Island

Join a leading NZ fire compliance team and grow your career in Northland.

The Role

As a Compliance Technician, you'll be out on the road visiting customer sites across the region. Your work will include:

• Testing and surveying fire alarms, sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, passive protection, and handheld fire equipment and other specified systems.
• All data is entered into a mobile device and sent to the office electronically.
• Ensuring all systems meet NZ Standards and the Building Act.
• Deliver a safe, accurate, and professional compliance services.

This is a full-time, permanent role (40 hrs/week, Mon–Fri) and unlike plenty of jobs these days, this one cannot be done by AI, so your skills are always in demand.

We're looking for an experienced Tester/Surveyor who knows their way around NZ Standards and compliance requirements. You will need to be able to use a mobile device to enter your test results and timesheet.

What we are looking for

• A clean NZ driver's license
• Minimum 3 years' experience in Fire & Building Compliance in NZ (preferred)
• Working knowledge of NZ Standards and the Building Act
• NZQA Systems Technology Level 3 (or willingness to complete it)
• New Zealand residency
• Ideally you will already be based in Whangarei

Ideally, you come with

• A keen, motivated attitude; and desire to learn
• A full, NZ driver's license
• The physical fitness to be able to carry work equipment around sites.
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in Fire & Building Compliance in NZ.
• A working knowledge of NZ Standards and Building Act.
• NZQA Systems Technology Level 3 is preferred. Completion will be required if you don't hold it already.
