The Warehouse is seeking a compliance professional to join our Legal & Compliance team in Auckland. You will support privacy matters, develop training, and keep our compliance framework practical and current across the business.

Collaborating with Legal, Product, Customer Care and other teams, you will translate complex regulations into actionable guidance while staying ahead of NZ regulatory developments. A proactive, business‑savvy mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in regulatory/compliance roles preferred.
• Ability to translate complex rules into practical guidance.
• Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of NZ regulatory frameworks (CGA, Fair Trading Act, privacy).

Responsabilités

• Maintain and improve our compliance framework with practical controls.
• Support privacy matters, requests, incidents and assessments.
• Contribute to compliance training and awareness programmes.
• Monitor regulatory developments and translate implications for the business.
• Coach leaders and teams to understand responsibilities through training and communication.
• Partner with Legal, Product, Customer Care, QA, Finance and Logistics across the business.
• Engage with external advisers, regulators and stakeholders as needed.

We now have an awesome opportunity to join our Legal & Compliance team and play a key role in supporting compliance, privacy and regulatory activity across one of New Zealand's largest retail groups.

You'll work across a wide variety of business areas, helping teams understand their obligations, manage risk, and navigate compliance challenges in practical, commercially sensible ways.

Snapshot of the role:

• Keeping our compliance framework sharp - reviewing policies, procedures and controls so they’re not only compliant but practical and effective
• Support privacy matters, requests, incidents and assessments
• Contribute to compliance training and awareness programmes
• Staying across the latest regulatory developments (FTA, CGA, Privacy, Product Safety Standards, etc.) and translating these into what they mean for our business
• Supporting leaders and teams to understand their responsibilities, bringing complex requirements to life through training, coaching and communication
• Working closely with teams like Legal, Product, Customer Care, Loss Prevention, QA, Finance, Logistics and more - you’ll be a trusted partner across the business
• Work with external advisers, regulators and key stakeholders when required

Qualifications

You're someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can juggle competing priorities without losing your cool. You know when to roll up your sleeves, when to ask the right questions, and when it's time to escape an issue.

You're naturally curious, practical and solutions-focused, with a knack for turning complex information into clear, plain-English advice that people can actually understand and act on. Most importantly, you're able to see both the detail and the bigger picture, helping the business navigate challenges while keeping an eye on what matters most.

You don't need a compliance background to be successful here however working knowledge of New Zealand regulatory frameworks/requirements, including consumer (CGA 1993, Fair Trading Act 1986) and privacy legislation would be advantageous. We're looking for someone with sound judgement, commercial awareness and the ability to quickly get up to speed on new topics. Retail or customer-focused experience would also be a bonus.
