Job summary

Brown and Associates Accounting Group in Richmond, Nelson/Tasman, is seeking a Client Manager to oversee a client portfolio, provide practical advice, and lead in a supportive, growth-focused team environment.

You will manage client relationships, prepare and review financial statements, tax returns, and GST, and guide colleagues. Excellent communication and proactive problem solving are essential while liaising with banks, IRD, and other advisors.

Qualifications

• NZ Chartered Accounting experience is required.
• Strong communication and client service skills.
• Ability to review financial statements and tax matters.

We are looking for a dynamic Client Manager to join our Chartered Accounting practice in Richmond. You’ll manage your own client portfolio, provide practical advice, and lead with responsibility in a supportive, growth-focused team.

What you’ll do

• Manage a portfolio of clients, build strong relationships, and provide practical, tailored advice
• Take responsibility for the preparation and review of financial statements, tax returns, and GST
• Guide and support other team members when required
• Provide advice on complex financial and tax matters, finding solutions for client issues
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality outcomes for clients
• Assist clients with accounting software queries and system improvements
• Liaise with IRD, ACC, banks, lawyers, and other stakeholders on behalf of clients

What you’ll bring

• 3+ years’ experience in a New Zealand Chartered Accounting practice
• Proven ability to take responsibility and resolve client queries effectively
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence across a wide range of clients
• Attention to detail while maintaining an understanding of broader business and tax considerations
• Proficiency in Xero, Xero Workpapers and Excel
• Excellent time management, organisation and prioritisation skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• CA/CPA qualification (or working towards) preferred but not essential
