Talent Connection NZ in Christchurch is seeking a driven Company Accountant to lead management, cost and financial accounting across multiple units, turning data into insights that shape smart decisions and support long-term growth.

You will manage month-end processes, budgets and rolling forecasts, analyse data for trends, and support capital projects and contract management with a hands-on, detail-focused communicator who thrives in a service environment.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualified with proven management accounting experience.
• Hands-on with month-end, reconciliations, reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Experience in Construction Contracts and retentions preferred.
• Strong data handling and Excel skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

An opportunity has arisen for a driven Company Accountantto take the lead in this varied role covering aspects of management, cost, and financial accountancy. Located on the city fringe, you'll work closely with multiple business units, turning data into insights that shape smart decisions and support long-term growth. Your hands-on experience and understanding of construction and service operations will help drive our continued success.

About the role:

• Manage month-end accounting processes, journals, reconciliations, and reports
• Prepare accurate management reports, budgets, and rolling forecasts with stakeholders
• Analyse operational and financial data to highlight trends and opportunities
• Support capital projects, commercial planning, and long-term contract management
• Ensure IRD compliance and uphold internal financial controls and policies
• Commitment to continuous improvement initiatives across the wider company

Skills and experience:

• CA or CPA qualified, with proven experience in management accounting for mid-sized organisations with a turnover of $25-40 million.
• Hands-on expertise in month-end processes, reconciliations, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, ideally within a service industry, with experience in Construction Contracts and retentions
• Confident working with multiple data sources, managing project accounting, and optimising ERP systems
• Strong analytical mindset, exceptional attention to detail and advanced Excel skills
• A clear and passionate communicator who brings energy, pride, and purpose to every task
