Job summary

Waste Management is seeking a skilled Class 4 Hook Truck Driver for our Papakura team in New Zealand. You will operate a Hook Truck, ensure safe and timely waste collection, and maintain accurate records. A strong health and safety mindset and the ability to stand 6–8 hours are essential.

We value teamwork, reliability, and the ability to educate the public on proper waste and recycling practices. This role requires availability Monday through Saturday and a commitment to safety and regulatory

Qualifications

Heavy vehicle driving experience; Hook Truck essential.
Valid full Class 4 driver's licence.
Able to drive an 18 Speed Road Ranger.
Team player who helps the team.
Attention to detail for sorting.
Experience operating mule/compactor trucks.
Physically able to stand 6–8 hours.
Available Mon–Sat (rostered weekends).
Able to educate the public on waste/recycling.
Strong commitment to health and safety.
Adherence to road regs and logbooks.
Safe and efficient driving practices.
Strong route planning and navigation.
Flexible to operate various vehicle classes.

Job Description

We are looking for a multi skilled Class 4 Hook Truck Driver to join our team based in Papakura.

About the role

As a Driver, you'll operate the vehicle and onboard equipment to ensure safe, timely service collection, maintain accurate records, complete paperwork, and perform routine safety checks.

At times there may be some heavy lifting so you will need to have a reasonable fitness level. From previous experience, you'll already know the importance of health and safety in the workplace, and you'll champion our culture of making sure everyone gets home safely.

Qualifications

About you

Proven heavy vehicle driving experience - Hook Truck experience essential
A valid and clean full Class 4 driver's licence
Ability to drive an 18 Speed Road Ranger Truck (Gearbox)
A team player – this role includes getting out to help the team when needed
A sharp eye for detail to ensure sorting is performed accurately and efficiently
Experience operating mule/compactor trucks
Has the physical ability to remain on their feet for 6 -8 hours a day
Availability to work Monday through Saturday (rostered weekends)
The ability to educate the public on proper waste and recycling practices
A strong commitment to health and safety standards
Adherence to all road regulations and logbook requirements
Safe and efficient driving practices
Strong skills in route planning and navigation
