Job summary

WM New Zealand is seeking a skilled Class 4 Hook Truck Driver based in Papakura, Auckland. You will operate the Hook Truck, manage equipment, and ensure safe, timely waste collection while maintaining accurate records and performing routine safety checks.

Qualifications

Proven heavy vehicle driving experience with Hook Trucks.
Valid and clean Class 4 driver's licence.
Experience operating an 18 speed Road Ranger gearbox.
Team player capable of helping the team.
Excellent attention to detail for sorting and records.
Experience with mule/compactor trucks.
Ability to stand for 6–8 hours and perform heavy lifting.
Availability Monday to Saturday, with weekends rostered.
Knowledge of NZTA regulations and road safety practices.
Able to educate the public on waste and recycling practices.

Job Description

We are looking for a multi skilled Class 4 Hook Truck Driver to join our team based in Papakura.

About the role

As a Driver, you'll operate the vehicle and onboard equipment to ensure safe, timely service collection, maintain accurate records, complete paperwork, and perform routine safety checks.

At times there may be some heavy lifting so you will need to have a reasonable fitness level. From previous experience, you'll already know the importance of health and safety in the workplace, and you'll champion our culture of making sure everyone gets home safely.

Qualifications

About you

Proven heavy vehicle driving experience - Hook Truck experience essential
A valid and clean full Class 4 driver's licence
Ability to drive an 18 Speed Road Ranger Truck (Gearbox)
A team player – this role includes getting out to help the team when needed
A sharp eye for detail to ensure sorting is performed accurately and efficiently
Experience operating mule/compactor trucks
Has the physical ability to remain on their feet for 6 -8 hours a day
Availability to work Monday through Saturday (rostered weekends)
The ability to educate the public on proper waste and recycling practices
A strong commitment to health and safety standards
Adherence to all road regulations and logbook requirements
Safe and efficient driving practices
Strong skills in route planning and navigation
Flexibility to operate a variety of vehicle classes
