Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

Life at Fulton Hogan is about making the most of the opportunities, taking responsibility, having a crack, being accountable and making it happen. We live by our REAL values – Respect, Energy & Effort, Attitude, Leadership – and we demonstrate these through the good work we do, every day, as one team.

As a Civil Foreman, you will lead a crew of 2 - 5 people to deliver work on time, to budget, safely, and to the highest quality standard. You will run the day-to-day operations and coordination of your crew, plant resources and sub-contract personnel in your area of control.

In addition to the above you will:

  • Lead your crew to deliver safe, high‑quality work on time and to budget
  • Actively ensure a safe work environment for employees, subcontractors and the public
  • Coordinate and organise plant, labour, subcontractors and suppliers for each job
  • Ensure work is carried out skilfully, efficiently and to the required specification
  • Complete required documentation, including:
    • Timesheets and daily job sheets
    • Pre‑start inspections and plant usage sheets
    • Quality checklists and hazard IDs
  • Full‑time, permanent role with a strong pipeline of local work
  • Small, supportive crew with the backing of a major contractor
  • Ongoing training and development, with real opportunities to progress your career
  • Medical and life insurance (eligibility criteria apply)
  • KiwiSaver employer contributions up to 7% after service milestones
  • Family scholarships to support your whānau's future
  • Access to Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for confidential support for you and your family

We're looking for someone with:

  • Minimum 5 years' construction experience
  • A certificate in a construction trade (beneficial but not essential)
  • At least a current Class 1 licence
  • Class 5 licence recommended (or willingness to work towards it – we can help you get this)
  • Strong understanding of civil construction principles and their practical application
  • Ability to read, interpret and deliver against plans
  • Clear communication skills and experience leading others

You will be someone who leads from the front, sets the standard for safety and quality, and knows how to get the best out of a small, high‑performing team.

If this role is not quite right but you have civil construction or machine operating experience in Central Otago, we still want to hear from you.

Creating, Connecting and caring for the community

Our people regularly donate their time to local causes and initiatives, while at a regional and national level we provide financial support, skills and resources to a wide range of organisations that are strengthening our communities. Our focus aims to also reduce our impact on the environment, and regenerate healthy new ecosystems. We look to partner with others to lift the standards of our industry and show customers lower-impact, sustainable ways of delivering infrastructure.

All successful candidates must under-go and pass a pre-employment medical and drug screen prior to employment.
